LONDON 〓 The collection of Rostropovich & Vishnevskaya appeared in the auction

On November 28, at the Sotheby’s in London, the collection of the historical cellist Mstislav Rostropovich (1927 – 2007) and his wife, Galina Vishnevskaya(1926 – 2012) were auctioned and a total of £ 4 million Added values. Approximately 300 Items including musical instruments, furniture, jewelry, and tableware were sent.

Three cellos exhibited. Among them, “Giovanni Battista Guadagnini” made in 1783 was bidding for 1.93 million pounds. What Rostropovich bought in Paris in 2000. The highest value that was exhibited was attached. In 1945 he won the gold medal at the age of 18 at the All-Soviet Music Competition. The cello he was using from that time is said to be made by Guadagnini. However, when leaving the USSR in 1974 and investigating it in Switzerland it turned out that it was from a different maker. It is said that due to such events, it was obsessed with Guadagnini.

In addition, “Santo Serafin” manufactured in 1741 bid for 610,000 pounds. Another one, 1743 made “Giovanni Floriano Guidanti” has no winning bidder. One piano was also exhibited. “Bösendorfer” made in 1976, this was awarded at 45,000 pounds. Witold Lutosławski, Alfred Schnittke, Arthur Rubinstein and others played the piano.
