Lyon 〓 Lyon National Orchestra will welcome Nicolai Zunider to music director

Lyon National Orchestra (Orchester National de Lyon)will welcome Nicolai Zunider to music director. Znaider is a violinist and conductor. Leonard Slatkin has served as a music director since 2011, but now is vacant. Zunaider was born in Denmark in 1975. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Denmark and won the 1992 “Nielsen International Violin Competition”. Afterwards, studied under Dorothy Delay at The Juilliard School and Boris Kuschnir at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 1997 he won the “Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium” and has developed spectacular activities as a worldwide violinist. After that, he also started activities as a conductor. In 2010 he is appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Mariinsky Opera Orchestra of St. Petersburg.
