The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra asked the former Principal flute player, Silvia Careddu, to perform. The Vienna Philharmonic Principal flute is auditioned in June and Luc Mangholz has already been chosen as the replacement for Careddu. Manholz is French and 24 years old. He is the principal player of the NDR Elp Philharmonic Orchestra based in Hamburg. He studied under Philippe Bernold in Paris and Andrea Lieberknecht in Munich. It was scheduled to arrive on September 1, but it was delayed, and the orchestra asked Careddu to substitute.
