TORONTO 〓 Trumpeter Chris Coletti leaves Canadian Brass

2019/08/30

The brass quintet “Canadian Brass” trumpet player Chris Coletti leaves the Ensemble. The reason for leaving was that he became the professor of the Ithaca College School of Music in New York, USA, and the second child was born. Coretti has been a member since 2009, and his predecessor Brandon Ridenour is returning as his successor.

Canadian Brass was formed in Toronto, Canada in 1970, led by tuba player Charles Daellenbach. The repertoire ranges from Baroque to classical, and even jazz and pop. In 1977, they performed in China as Canadian cultural ambassadors, and are known as the western performing groups that were first allowed to enter the China after the Cultural Revolution.

They also have a unique outfit at the time of performance, such as a formal black suit and white sports shoes. Many concerts are held all over the world, making it known as “the most famous brass quintet in the world” and “the busiest brass quintet in the world”. They are also active in recording and have released over 100 albums. All are highly acclaimed, and the four CDs shine at the top of the Billboard hit chart.
