HAMBURG 〓 Dutoit returns to Germany at the new “Argerich Festival”

The details of the new music festival will be announced in which the Hamburg symphony orchestra (Hamburger Symphoniker) starts with the pianist Martha Argerich. The Festival period is June 20-30. The name became “Malta Argerich Festival”, taking over the “Argelich Project” she had been with in Lugano, Switzerland from 2002 to 2016.

The concerts performed by Argerich with the orchestra will be conducted by Orchestra’s Principal Conductor Sylvain Cambreling, as well as Charles Dutoit, Argerich’s former husband. At the concert, he will also perform with his daughter, Annie Dutoit, who was born between him and Argerich.

The violins are Renaud Capuçon, Guy Braunstein, Adrian Iliescu, Tedi Papavrami, and Mayu Kishima. The cello is Mischa Maisky, Andrei Ioniță, Edgar Moreau and others.

The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1957. At this time, the former Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the Hamburg Chamber Orchestra merged. Later, in 1961, the Bach Orchestra’s performers joined, and the name changed to “Hamburger Symphoniker”, and Roberto Heger became the first chief conductor. Since its 60th anniversary, it has moved to Laeiszhalle since 2017.
