Hilary Hahn, who was scheduled to perform as a soloist in the Berliner Philharmoniker’s US tour, which starts on the 15th, has cancelled her appearance. Hahn was scheduled to play Korngold’s Violin Concerto. Benjamin Beilman and Vilde Frang will perform as her substitutes.
The Berlin Philharmonic’s US tour was first held in 1955, and this tour, led by Kirill Petrenko, will be the 25th. Over the course of 14 days, the orchestra will visit five cities – Washington, New York, Boston, Ann Arbor and Chicago – and give eight concerts.
Hahn explained that she has been struggling for several months to recover from the pressure on her nerves, and has announced that “Unfortunately, it will take some time to fully recover. In order to continue playing in the future, I have to respect that. I am deeply grateful for the support you have given me during this time.”
