Berlin State Opera (Staatsoper Unter den Linden) has announced a lineup of performances for the 2019/2020 season. There are seven new productions, including Scarlatti’s oratorio “Cain, or the first murder”. “Cain, or the first murder” is a work on the theme of the murder of his younger brother by Adam and Eve’s son Cain, who is considered to be the “first murder of mankind.” It premiered in Venice in 1707. The production was directed by Romeo Castellucci in January 2019 and performed at the Paris National Opera. Conducter is the same as Paris, René Jacobs. It is also a topic for Simon Rattle to direct Mozart’s “Idomeneo” and Zubin Mehta to lead Richard Straus’s “Der Rosenkavalier”.
