The Hessian State Theatre have announced the appointment of British conductor Leo McFall as general music director. McFall was born in London in 1981 and is 43 years old. After studying at Oxford University, the Sibelius Conservatory, and the Zurich University of Music, he worked as an assistant to Bernard Haitink with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
He then became chief conductor of the Meiningen State Theater in Germany, and is currently chief conductor of the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra in Bregenz, Austria, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki, Greece.
