Following the German government’s decision to ban large-scale events until the end of August, the Bavarian State Opera (Bayerische Staatsoper) in Munich has announced that it will close the 2019/2020 season.

The Bavarian State Opera also announced the cancellation of the annual Munich Opera Festival. This year it was scheduled to take place from 11th June to 31st July.
