TOULOUSE 〓 Tugan Sokhiev has extended his contract with theCapitol National Orchestra

Russian conductor Tugan Sokhiev has extended his contract with the Toulouse Capitol National Orchestra. However, the extension is only for one year, and the contract expires at the end of the 2020/2021 season. Sohiev became the principal guest conductor of the orchestra in 2005 and has been the music director since 2008.

Sokhiev is 42 years old born in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia in 1977. After graduating from the Gergiev Memorial Vladikavkas Art School, he studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and studied under Ilya Musin and Yuri Temirkanov. Since 2014 he has been the music director of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.
