Alexander Pereira, who has decided to retire as president of the La Scala, will take office as president at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. At the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Cristiano Chiarot resigned last month, and the president is now vacant.

Pereira’s term for Scala remains until June 2021, but it has been decided that Dominique Meyer, who has served as president of the Vienna State Opera, will take over. Meyer will start work in 2020, just after he left Vienna. Pereira will retire before his term expires and will start working in Florence right away.
