A movie featuring the missing violinist, “The Song of Names”, has been released in North America since December 25. A Canadian-Hungarian co-production, based on a novel by the British classical music researcher and writer Norman Lebrecht. Directed by François Girard, who worked on “The Red Violin” and “Silk”, co-starring Tim Ross from “The Legend of 1900” and Clive Owen from “Closer”.

The story begins in 1951 when Dovidl, a genius violinist from Poland, did not show up in his debut performance. Martin, who grew up like a close friend and brother, was shocked in the theater. 35 years later, Martin, a judge for the music competition, met a performance reminiscent of Davidl and began searching for him again. The film depicts a 50-year friendship that crosses two continents, back and forth between the 1930s when they met and the 1980s when Martin looked for Davidl.

The movie’s music is Howard Shore, which is known for his music in the “Lord of the Rings” series and “Seven”. The violin was performed by Ray Chen. He is 30 years old, born in Taipei, Taiwan. He moved to Brisbane, Australia at an early age, began playing violin at the age of four, and studied with Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute of Music in the United States in 2004. He Won the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in 2009. He uses a 1715 Stradivarius “Joachim” loaned from the Nippon Music Foundation.
