SALZBURG 〓 Bernard Haitink was awarded honorary membership from Vienna Philharmonic

Bernard Haitink was presented honorary membership in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The award was presented by orchestral chairman Daniel Froschauer during rehearsals in Salzburg Festival.

Haitink first performed with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1972. Since that time he has conducted the Vienna Philharmonic more than 100 times.

Haitink is currently 90 years old. He expressed his retirement from the conductor’s activities over 65 years. The last concert is in September at the Lucerne Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
