LONDON 〓 British tenor singer Kim Begley announced his retirement

Kim Begley, one of British leading tenor singer, announced his retirement from opera. Begley was born in 1952, Birkenhead, England. He is 66 years old. After working as an actor, he studied music at the Guildhall Conservatory and turned into a singer. In 1983, he made his debut with Royal Opera House as role of Gabriel of the modern opera “Taverner” of Peter Maxwell Davis. For over 30 years, he has repeatedly appeared in world famous Opera House such as Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan Opera, mainly in the Royal Opera House of his home country. The repertoire is wide, and at the Royal Opera House he sings 30 roles. Among them, the role of Loge of Wagner’s “The Rheingold” was a great success. In 2000 he also debuted at the Bayreuth Festival.
