VERONA 〓 Next year, Riccardo Muti will appear in Arena di Verona!

Maestro Riccardo Muti will appear on the concert’s podium at the 2021 Arena di Verona next year. It was announced on May 18 from the festival. That concert will be held for two days, June 19th and June 22nd.

Next year will be 150 years since the premiere of “Aida” on December 24, 1871 in Cairo, Egypt. In commemoration of it, the concert on the 19th marks the openning of the festival.

The cast is gorgeous only for the commemorative performance. Sonya Yoncheva on Aida, Anita Rachvelishvili on Amneris, Francesco Meli on Radames, Luca Salsi on Amonaslo, and Riccardo Zanelatto on Ramfis.

Muti has only performed once at the Arena di Verona and has conducted a concert in memory of the victims of the bombing of the Bologna station in 1980.
