LONDON 〓 Radu Lupu announces retirement

A pianist, Radu Lupu, announced his retirement for the season through the office. Lupu is 73 years old, born in Romania in 1945. After studying at the National University of Music Bucharest, he studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory between 1960 and 1968, and he studied under Stanislav Neuhaus. He won the 2nd Annual Van Cliburn International Competition in 1966, the Enescu International Competition in 1967, and the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1969. International performances have been conducted based in the United Kingdom, but cancellations due to poor health have increased in recent years.
