Bass singer Tomasz Konieczny was awarded the title of “Court Singer” by the Austrian government on the 16th. Konieczny was born in 1972 in Lodz, Central Poland. Lodz is the largest industrial city in Poland and the center of the film industry. In this city, the only film school in Poland starred in director Andrzej Wajda, director Roman Polanski and director Krzysztof Kieślowski. Konieczny first studied drama there. After graduation, he made his debut in the Wajda’s film “PIERSCIONEK Z ORTEM W KORONIE”. Later, he served as an actor and director of television and film.
After that, he studied vocal music at the Chopin Conservatory of Music in Warsaw and the Dresden Conservatory, and he entered the world of opera. In 1997, he held the “The Marriage of Figaro” at the Poznan Opera House, and won the 33rd “Dvorak International Vocal Competition” the following year, and with the Mannheim Opera, Deutsche Oper Am Rhein signed an exclusive contract. In 2008, he premiered at the Vienna State Opera as the role of Alberich in Wagner’s “Siegfried”. According to the theatre, he has appeared 160 times in 17 performances at the Vienna State Opera and has always played the role of 21.
