A suspicion of sexual harassment emerged in Sweden’s leading opera singer, baritone singer Hakan Hagegard, resigned from posts such as Stockholm’s Royal Academy of Music and Oslo’s Norwegian Academy of Music. Royal Academy of Music announced a statement that “the Board welcomes Hagegard’s decision.” In Sweden on November 22 last year, a classical music radio station “P2” broadcast a documentary interview with women who were sexually harassed in Stockholm and Oslo. Although the program is not naming it, it has been charged that sexual harassment by prominent musicians is taking place.
Hagegard was born in 1945, Sweden Midwest Karlstad, 72 years old. He studied at the Royal College of Music, Mozarteum University Salzburg in Austria and debuted as an opera. He played Papageno in the Swedish film “Magical Flute” of 1975 directed by Ingmar Bergman and attracted attention. After that he repeatedly appeared in famous opera houses around the world. Recently he was devoted to the guidance of the student, he was launching an experimental studio in Stockholm. Hagegard was married to Barbara Bonney of soprano for a while.
