The Juries of the “woodwind instrument Division” of the Tchaikovsky International Competition were announced. The 16th in 2019 will be held from 17th to 29th July, “Woodwind Instrument Division” will be newly established this year. The chairperson of the 16th contest as a whole is the conductor Valery Gergiev. The chairman of the “woodwind instrument Division” is the Principal flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Denis Bouriakov, and the Juries are the following members.

 Karl-Heinz Schutz (Principal flute Vienna Philharmonic)
 Stephen Williamson (Principal clarinet of Chicago Symphony Orchestra)
 Jacques Zoon (Former Principal flute of Boston Symphony Orchestra)


Tchaikovsky International Competition was founded in 1958. It is held in Moscow, alongside Queen Elisabeth Competition and Chopin International Piano Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions. When it was founded, it was only the “piano and violin Division”, but since “Cello division” from the 2nd in 1962, “vocal division” from 1966, “violin producer division” competing violin production technology from 1990 Are provided.
