AMSTERDAM 〓 Dima Slobodeniouk will make his debut as Royal Concertgebou Orchestra in charge of Northern Europe tour

The Royal Concertgebou Orchestra announced the conductor of the Scandinavian tour in the first half of November when it was vacant due to Daniele Gutti’s dismissal. Two people, Philippe Herreweghe (Vilnius, Riga, Helsinki) and Dima Slobodeniouk (Tallinn, Göteborg, Copenhagen) are useful. Herreweghe regularly guests at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra for 24 years, in addition to the concert at the headquarters in the second half of November, he also directs concerts of Luxembourg and Zagreb. Slobodeniouk originally planned to debut at the Royal Concertgebou Orchestra with a concert in April 2019.

Slobodeniouk was born in Moscow in 1975. He studied the violin from a young age and moved to Finland at the age of 17. After that, he began studying conducting and studied at the Sibelius Conservatory with Jorma Panula, Leif Segerstam and others. From 2012, he is the principal conductor of the Galician Symphony Orchestra based in the port city A Coruña facing the Atlantic Ocean in northwestern Spain. From 2016 he also serves as the chief conductor of the Finnish Lahti Symphony Orchestra. In February this year, he debuted in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
