It was revealed that Hamburger Symphoniker welcomed pianist Martha Argerich and founded a new music festival “June Music Festival”. It is said that she will take over the “Argerich Project” which she had been doing in Lugano, Switzerland from 2002 to 2016, aiming at the successor music festival. The music festival is from June 25 to July 2. Besides Daniel Barenboim, Thomas Hampson, Mischa Maisky, the 95-year-old Israeli violinist Ivry Gitlis and others co-star, Akiko Suwanai also participates from Japan.

Hamburger Symphoniker was born in 1957 when a performance group in Hamburg merged. Last year, I celebrated the 60th anniversary of foundation. In 1961, the musicians of the Bach Orchestra joined and changed their name to “Hamburger Symphoniker”, and Robert Heger was welcomed as the first chief conductor and restarted. In addition to their own concerts, they are also responsible for the performances of the opera and ballet performances of the Hamburg State Opera. In 2017, the headquarters moved to “Laeiszhalle” which was the home of NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg (current NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester). The current chief conductor is Sylvain Cambreling.
