Spain’s Orquesta de Córdoba decided to invite art director young conductor Carlos Domínguez-Nieto from the 2018/19 season.
The Cordoba Orchestra was founded in 1992 by a guitarist from Cuba and composer Leo Brouwer. The artistic director is a new post.
Dominguez-Nieto was born in Madrid in 1972. After studying piano, cello, composition, and command at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Mozarteum University Salzburg he served as Iván Fischer’s assistant.
Afterwards, he served as director of Music at Munich ChamberOpera in Germany, and General Director of Music (GMD) at Eisenach Opera.
Córdoba is a city in Andalusia region in southern Spain, 40 minutes by bullet train “AVE” from Seville of Andalusia, 1 hour 40 minutes from the capital Madrid. Since the era of “Caliphate of Córdoba” was the capital city, the city has many buildings that convey the culture of the Islamic era and is called the “western jewel”.
