Los Angeles Philharmonic appointed Zubin Mehta as Conductor Emeritus. It was announced at a concert held on the 3rd. At Concert, Mehta Conducted the Brahms’s Violin Concerto (soloist Pincus Zurkerman), Symphony No. 3. At the break time, celebratory message from current music director Gustavo Dudamel was read aloud.

In 1962, Mehta became a music director at the young age of 26, following Eduard van Beinum. He took over the orchestra to an international presence until he retired in 1978, and made a lot of recordings. For the orchestra, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding. In 2009, they has given the title “Conductor Laureate” to Esa-Pekka Salonen who served as music director from 1992 to 2009.
