Berlin’s three opera houses announced the performance income in 2018. According to it, the three opera houses, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden and Komische Oper Berlin have attracted more than 200,000 people to participate in operas and concerts. In East and West Germany, in West Berlin, only the Opera House is Deutsche Oper Berlin. The unification of East Germany and West Germany suddenly increased the number of opera houses to three. Among the three opera houses, Deutsche Oper Berlin had the largest number of customers, 243,500 people. The number of performances decreased from 319 to 290, but conversely the number of customers increased by 6,600. However, the admission rate fell to 73.2% from 76.7% in the previous year. The top admission rate is 92% at Staatsoper Unter den Linden. In 2018, it was the first year of reopening after the major renovation of the theater building finished and attracted 235,000 people with about 300 performances. Meanwhile, Komische Oper Berlin attracted more than 220,000 people with 239 performances with 2 shows less than the previous year. The entrance rate is 88.7%.
