LONGBOROUGH 〓 Festival Opera Festival is set to launch a new ‘Ring Cycle’ in this year

Longborough Festival Opera announced the lineup for 2019. Longborough is in the southwestern part of England. The festival held from June to the beginning of August is known for the performance of Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung”. They will start a new cycle performance from this year. This year, “The Rhinegold” will be performed, “The Valkyrie” in 2020, “Siegfried” in 2021, “Twilight of the gods” in 2022. And in 2023 the music festival will perform all four works.

Amy Lane, who has been serving as an assistant director at the Royal Opera House, is responsible for directing the new cycle. It is said to be involved in the creation of “The Valkyrie” and “Twilight of the Gods” of the Royal Opera House. The first appearance “The Rhinegold” will decorate the opening of this year. The conductor is Anthony Negus, music director of the music festival. Mark Stone, Darren Jeffery, Mark Le Brocq, Madeleine Shaw, Simon Wilding will appear on the stage.

Martin and Lizzie Graham, co-founder of the music festival, were awarded the “Reginald Goodall Award” this year from the International Wagner Society. Last year Negus was awarded and received the second consecutive year. At this year’s festival, in addition to “The Rhinegold”, Donizetti “Anna Bolena”, Mozart “Don Giovanni”, Cavalli “Callisto” will be performed.
