Russian-born baritone singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky died on November 22, 2017 at the hospital in London. He was 55 years old. Born in 1962, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. He won first prize in Glinka International Vocal Contest (Russia) in 1987, Concourse International Chant de Toulouse (France) in 1988, BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition (UK) in 1989, then moved to London did.

After that, he fascinated many opera fans with a seamless legato and a passionate voice, and repeatedly appeared in a famous opera house. After being diagnosed as a brain tumor in 2015, he had continued medical care with his activity in mind, but in May 2017 he appeared in the New York Metropolitan Opera House Gala Concert after a long absence.
