BERLIN 〓 Zubin Mehta will be an honorary member of the Berliner Philharmoniker

The Berliner Philharmoniker made the conductor Zubin Mehta an honorary member. In the past, the conductor who became an honorary member has Daniel Barenboim, Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Seiji Ozawa and Maris Jansons. According to the orchestra, Mehta conducted the Berlin Philharmoniker for the first time in September 1961. It was when he was 25 years old. He has conducted 172 concerts with 73 programs so far, including this week’s concert.
