A German bass singer, René Pape, was awarded the title of Austria “Court Singer = Kammersänger” from the Vienna State Opera on 18th. “Court singer” is a title given to a singer who has long been active in Austrian theater, combining popularity and ability, pension is also paid. Papé was born in 1964 in Dresden. After being a member of the famous “Dresdner Kreuzchor = Holy Cross Chorus”, he was active as a singer exclusively for the Berlin State Opera since 1988 while he was in the Dresden Conservatory. After unification of Germany, it pulled out from the Western Theaters, and in 1991, in addition to Vienna, first appeared at the Salzburg Festival with the role of Sarastro of “Magic Flute”. In 1994, he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival with the role of Fasolt of “Das Rheingold”, and he continues to be active in the front line after that.
