The Magdeburg Theater in Germany announced that it will welcome Russian-born conductor Anna Skryleva to the next Music Director. Succeeding Kimbo Ishii, who has served as Music Director since 2010. Term of office is from 2019/2020 season.

Skryleva was born in Moscow in 1975. She started playing the piano at the age of 5 and studied at the Moscow Conservatory. She moved to Germany from 1999 and entered Berlin University of Art. Furthermore, she continued studying conducting in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe.

As a conductor she was Assistant of Jeffrey Tate at the Cologne Opera and Simone Young at the Hamburg State Opera. From the 2012/2013 season she has served as deputy Director of music at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater and Darmstadt State Theater.
