2022/10/26

The Berlin Philharmonic has announced details of its U.S. tour in November. This will be the first U.S. tour in six years and the first with Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko. It will also be their first overseas tour in four years.

According to the announcement, concerts will be held in five cities: New York, Boston, Chicago, Ann Arbor, and Naples. This is also the first time the orchestra will perform concerts in Florida. The orchestra will perform three concerts in New York City and two in Ann Arbor and Naples, for a total of nine concerts.

The tour will feature two programs, one being Mahler’s Symphony No. 7. The other combines works by American composer Andrew Norman and Korngold with Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 1.

The Mozart soloist is Noah Bendix-Balgley, a North Carolina native who was previously concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and has been the Berliner Philharmoniker’s first concertmaster since 2014.
