The schedule of the festival in the summer of 2019 was announced. According to it, 2019 opens on July 20th as usual and closes on August 31st. During the 43 days, 199 Performances will be held at 16 venues. There are 5 new production opera, Mozart “Idomeneo”, Cherubini “Médée”, Enescu “Oedipe”, Offenbach “Orphée aux enfers”, Verdi “Simon Boccanegra”. Revival is Handel “Alcina”, Richard Strauss “Salome”. Also, in concert Style, Cilea “Adriana Lecouvreur”, Verdi “Luisa Miller” will be performed. In addition to the director Barrie Kosky, the conductor Enrique Mazzola, James Conlon debuts the music festival with opera performances.
Meanwhile, the concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has 5 performances. The conductor is Riccardo Muti, Herbert Blomstedt, Daniel Barenboim, Franz Welser-Möst, Bernard Haitink. Muti is Requiem of Verdi, Blomstedt directs Mahler’s Symphony No. 9. Barenboim is also Mahler’s program, a combination of “Kindertotenlieder” and Symphony No. 5. Welser-Möst features Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14. The soloist is Asmik Grigorian, Matthias Goerne. Haitink conducts the program of a combination of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7. Piano Concerto with Murray Perahia.
Also, the guest appearance of the orchestra is luxurious as usual. The South-West German Radio Symphony Orchesta led by Teodor Currentzis, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra led by Barenboim, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra led by Mariss Jansons, Berliner Philharmoniker led by Kirill Petrenko, and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig led by Andris Nelsons. Among them, the West = Eastern Divan Orchestra celebrates its 20th year of founding, and the concert soloist will be able to co-star with Martha Argerich and Anne-Sophie Mutter. The artists’ faces such as recital are also diverse. Christian Gerhaher, Patricia Petibon, Diana Damrau, Grigory Sokolov, Maxim Vengerov, Evgeny Kissin, Maurizio Pollini, Mitsuko Uchida, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and so on.
