The flute world legend, James Galway (1939 -), was awarded the Order of Arts and Culture (L ‘Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) by the French French Minister of Culture. The Order of Arts and Culture is awarded to those who have outstanding achievements in the field of “art and literature”. It is divided into three kinds, Chevalier (Knight), Officier (Officer), Commandor (Knight Grandmaster), and Gaultway is given the highest command ruler.
Galway is an Irish British from Belfast. After serving as the principal player of the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, he served as the principal player of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra led by Herbert von Karajan from 1969 to 1975.
After withdrawing, he has a synonym of “Man with the Golden Flute” and he is active as a soloist and educator. Order of the British Empire in 1979, Knight’s title in 2001.
