NEW YORK 〓 Metropolitan Opera gives special concert on the first anniversary of Russia’s armed invasion of Ukraine

On February 24, the first anniversary of Russia’s armed invasion of Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera in New York announced that it will present a special concert. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct the Opera Orchestra in a performance of Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

In organizing the concert, General Manager Peter Gelb said, “Mozart’s Requiem is a memorial to the innocent victims of war, and Beethoven’s Fifth is a hope for the coming victory,” and he hopes to feature a number of Ukrainian soloists.
