A young American young pianist, Claire Huangci, won the 14th “Geza Anda International Piano Competition”.
In 1979, the competition was founded in Zurich by Hungarian-Swiss pianist Geza Anda’s widow Hortense Anda-Bührle. It is held once every three years.
This year, as part of the Zurich Arts Festival, it took place from June 3 to 12, and German pianist and conductor Christian Zacharias served as the chairman of the judging committee. There are 120 participants from 23 countries.
Huangci is 28 years old born in Rochester. She studied under Eleanor Sokoloff and Gary Graffman at the Curtis Conservatory of Philadelphia. Since 2007 She has been studying under Arie Vardi at the Hannover College of Music.
In 2011, he was the youngest age 21 and won the second place at the “Munich International Music Competition”. In 2013, she was nominated among five of the American Pianist Association Awards.
Sonata collection of Scarlatti released in 2015 from Berlin Classics received the German Records Critics Award. She has already performed with numerous orchestras.
