Munich 〓 Bavarian State Opera announcing 2018/19 season

The Bavarian State Opera (Bayerische Staatsoper) in Munich announced the lineup of the 2018/2019 season on the 18th. It is the biggest topic to focus on the composer Ernst Krenek (1900 – 1991) persecuted by the Nazis and will perform his opera “Karl V”. Kurshenek, born in Vienna, joined the popular composer in the 1926 opera “Jonny spielt auf” which took in jazz, but when the Nazis takes power in 1933, his work is called “Entartete Musik” The performance was banned. “Karl V”, which was commissioned by the Vienna State Opera, was regarded as the first opera in history using the full-length twelve tone technique, but this was also canceled in 1933. He exiled to the United States in 1938, finished his life in the US. Another topic is that popular tenor Jonas Kaufmann will appear in “Otello” which will be the first premier (new production) of the 2018/2019 season.
