TOULOUSE 〓 Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse has named Tarmo Peltokoski as its next music director

2022/12/14

The Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse has decided to welcome Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltokoski as its next music director. He will succeed Tugan Sokhiev, who resigned immediately after Russia’s armed invasion of Ukraine, and his term will begin in September 2024.

Peltokoski is 22 years old and was born in Helsinki. Half Filipino and half Finnish, he studied at the Sibelius Conservatory under Jorma Panula from the age of 14. He just made his conducting debut in 2020 with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

From the new season, he is rapidly expanding his activities as Music Director and Artistic Director of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, as well as Principal Guest Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
