REGENSBURG 〓 ChinChao Lin from Taiwan to GMD at Regensburg Opera

German Regensburg Opera House announced on the 22nd that conductor Tin Chai Chao Lin from Taiwan will be greeted by General Director of Music (GMD) from the 2018/19 season. Tetsuro Ban succeeded as GMD since the 2009/10 season.

Lin was born in 1987, Taiwan TaiDong. After studying at the University of Music and Arts in Graz, the University of Zurich, he won the third place in the 5th “Witold Lutosławski International Contest for Young Conductors” in 2011.

Since the 2016/17 season he has served as Principal Conductor of German Meiningen opera House. It is the second person who is a conductor from Taiwan and becomes a GMD of the opera. Since ShaoChia Lu served the GMD of the German Hannover Opera House in 2001-2006.
