ROME 〓 Film music giant, Ennio Morricone retires?

Italian composer Ennio Morricone who has worked on a lot of film music recently said in an interview with Italian daily newspaper “Corriere della Sera” that film music will not be written anymore did. Morricone was born in Rome in 1928. He is 90 years old in November this year. He is a giant who has written soundtracks for over 500 movies ever. However, he plans to continue composing classical music, he says he is now composing works for two pianos and violin.

After studying composition from Goffredo Petrassi in Rome’s Santa Cecilia Conservatoire, Morricone entered the path of film and television music from the end of the 1950’s, and the music of the so-called “Spaghetti Western” work of the 1960’s His name came to be known. After that, it breaks worldwide with the music of the movie “Mission” of 1986. In 1987 he received the Grammy award for the movie “untouchable”, and in 1989 the movie “New Cinema Paradise” became a global hit.

The nomination for the Academy Award composing prize is the following five times. “The days of heaven” = 1978, “Mission” = 1986, “Untouchable = 1987,” Bugsy “= 1991,” Malena “= 2000. In 2007 he received the honor prize of the 79th Academy Awards. And in 2016 he finally won the 88th Academy Award Composition prize with “Haitiful Eight” music. In addition to the Academy Awards, he won the Golden Globe Award three times, the British Academy Award five times, the Italian film award “David di Donatello” award 10 times, and the Polar Prize.
