The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has announced that this year’s Summer Night Concert will be held on June 19th. The conductor will be Lorenzo Viotti, making his debut appearance at the concert.
The concert takes place at Schönbrunn Palace and is a summer event that attracts 100,000 people. It is broadcast in more than 80 countries. Each year, it features a renowned soloist, and this year it will be baritone Bryn Terfel.
The program opened with Suppé’s Overture to “Light Cavalry.” It included performances of the Intermezzo from Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut,” Massenet’s “Meditation from Thaïs,” and excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” before concluding with Ravel’s Suite No. 2 from “Daphnis et Chloé.”
