LONDON 〓 Antonio Pappano was named Principal Conductor of London Symphony Orchestra

The London Symphony Orchestra has announced that it will welcome Antonio Pappano as Principal Conductor. Simon Rattle’s successor, starting in the 2024/2025 season. Pappano has been the music director of the Royal Opera House since the 2002/2003 season and will retire in the 2023/2024 season.

Simon Rattle, Principal Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, will retire at the end of the 2022/2023 season. Rattle will be the Principal Conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich, Germany from 2023/2024. Pappano is 61 years old with Italian parents.
