The Opera National de Lorraine, based in Nancy, France, has announced that it will welcome Polish female conductor Marta Gardolińska as the next music director. She is the first female music director in the theater and her term is three years from the 2021/2022 season.
She was born in Warsaw and is 32 years old. After she studied at the Chopin Conservatory, she studied at the University of Music and Drama in Vienna. She has performed with many orchestras at the Edinburgh Festival and elsewhere.
She was successful at the Lorraine National Opera in October last year when she conducted the French premiere of Zemlinsky’s opera “Der Traumgörge”.
