TOKYO 〓 New National Theater Tokyo 2018/2019 season was announced

A performance schedule of the New National Theater Tokyo 2018/2019 season was announced. The 2018/2019 season is the first season when the conductor Kazushi Ono took over as the artistic director of the opera division. Four premieres (new Production) are Mozart《Die Zauberflöte》, Nishimura《Asters》, Zemlinsky《Eine florentinische Tragödie》 & Puccini《Gianni Schicchi》, Puccini《Turandot》 4 performances. 《Asters》 is an opera underlining Jun Ishikawa’s original novel “ShionMonogatari” depicting artist’s work and conflict. A work commissioned by the New National Theater for the first time in 6 years. Composition is Akira Nishimura, a representative composer of contemporary Japan, directed by Yoshi Oïda, who works internationally based on Paris. In addition, 《Turandot》 which concludes the season is collaborated with the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan as a project “Opera Summer Festival 2019 – 20 / Japan ↔ Tokyo ↔ World” linked with the Tokyo Olympic Games. Besides performing at both theaters, it will be performed in collaboration with Biwako Hall and Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater. Spanish Barcelona Symphony Orchestra who will be led by music director Ono will enter the pit in all the performances. Directed by Àlex Ollé led by Spanish avant-garde performance company “La Fura dels Baus”. The performance schedule is as follows.
