Around the Music Festival

Théâtredes Champs-Elysées in Paris announced programming for the 2018/2019 season. Productions to be performed are three of Verdi “La traviata”, Richard Strauss “Ariadne auf Naxos”, Gluck “Iphigenie en Tauride”. Other than this, Verdi “Rigoletto”, Beethoven “Fidelio”, Bernstein “Candide”, Handel “Serse”, Puccini “La Bohème”, Verdi “Nabucco”, Mozart “Don Giovanni”, Richard Strauss “Arabella”, Lully “Armide” , Massenet “Manon” will be performed in a concert style.

Théâtredes Champs-Elysées is a theater in Paris’ 8th district, along Montaigne Street. The venue is in 1913, the building is the first architecture of the Art Deco style. The audience seats are over 1900. In the theater aiming to perform contemporary works that seems to be a theater of a new era, in the year of opening, the “Russian Ballets (Ballets Russes)” presided over by Sergei Diaghilev (1872 – 1929) has been invited. At this time, the ballet “The rite of spring” was performed, and the music of Stravinsky (1882 – 1971) was avant – garde, it is known by causing a scandal. Orchester national de France and Orchester Lamoureux, two French orchestras are using it as the home base, as well as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the overseas orchestra has become an activity base in France.
