The annual “Christmas in Vienna” performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has been cancelled. In response to the spread of infection with the new coronavirus.
“Christmas in Vienna” is an annual event held by the Vienna Philharmonic at the Konzerthaus. It started in 1992 and has been held every year except 2001 and 2002.
Following the cancellation, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) will use the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra to hold a special concert for TV broadcasting. Broadcast on December 21st for ORF II and December 24th for ARTE.
The special concert is conducted by Sascha Goetzel. Marina Rebeka, Margarita Gritskova, Charles Castronovo, Adam Plachetka, Vienna Boys’ Choir and others will appear.
