STOCKHOLM 〓 Anne-Sophie Mutter was awarded “Polar Music Prize”

The Royal Swedish Academy of Music announced the winners of this year’s “Polar Music Prize”. There are three winners. In the classical Music field, German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter was awarded.

Other recipients are hip-hop artist Joseph Saddler, known as “Grand Master Flash”, and Music Charity Organization “Playing for Change”. “Playing for Change” was a charity multimedia music project established by American producer Mark Johnson in 2002.

The music award was founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, a manager of Swedish legendary group “ABBA”, with winners starting in 1992.

In the classical Music field, Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez, Cecilia Bartoli and others have awarded. The prize money is 1 million Swedish kroner (about 110,000 dollars).

The award ceremony will take place in Stockholm on 11th June, and the prize will be awarded by King Carl XVI Gustaf.
