The Opera and Ballet Theater was founded in 1912 and is an opera house under the direct control of the Russian government.

Chudovsky studied at the Gunesyn Music School, the Moscow Conservatory and was one of the students of Gennady Rozhdestvensky. Since 2013 he has served as the chief conductor of the Santiago Municipal Theater (Teatro Municipal de Santiago) in Chile and has just extended his term to 2020 in this year.
