Conductor Mariss Jansons continues to be canceled. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra announced the cancellation of five concerts that will be held from November 28th to December 2nd on the 18th. Jakub Hrůša will be the substitute. Jansons suspended activities during the summer to recover from illness. The 2019/2020 season opened and returned to the stage, but cancellations due to poor physical condition continued in November.
First, he switched to Daniel Harding on a tour (November 3-5) for Antwerp, Luxembourg and Essen with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Subsequent performances at Carnegie Hall in New York (8th and 9th) were conducted on the first day, but on the second day, Vasily Petrenko took the place. Jansons’s contract with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra is until 2024.
