Ramón Ortega-Quero, who became the principal oboe player of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, was to leave. It made it self-evident.

This season, he just moved to the Los Angeles Phil led by Gustavo Dudamel from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra who has served as the principal player.

For the Los Angeles Phil this season is the year of commemoration of the 100th anniversary of establishment. The sudden departure of Ortega-Quero is shaking the orchestra.

Ortega-Quero was born in Granada, Spain in 1988. After studying in Spain, he became a member of the West-Eastern Divin Orchestra established by Daniel Barenboim in 2003.

In the Oboe Division of the 2007 Munich International Music Competition, for the first time in 40 years, he became the third winner in history (Heinz Holliger in 1961, since Maurice Burgh in 1967).

In 2008 he joined the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He received the “Echo Classic Prize” in the debut album “Shadows” released in 2010, and in 2012 he has won the second award in Beethoven and Mozart’s album.
