Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra announced the schedule of the 2018/2019 season on 20th. Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra was founded in 1944. They also accept performances of the Liceu theater and so on, they have a wide range of activities in concerts and opera, they are the top orchestra of Catalonia. Kazushi Ono is a music director since the 2015/2016 season, and this season will lead eight concerts.

The biggest topic of the season is to live in Ohno and visit Japan for the first time in 24 years. Participate in the international project “Opera Summer Festival 2019-20 Japan ⇔ Tokyo ⇔ World”, they will enter the pits. The project was planned for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2020. Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and New National Theater collaborate with theaters of various places in Japan such as Biwako Hall and Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater and work on an opera performance with international team for two years in 2019 and 2020. In 2019 Puccini ‘s “Turandot”, the year of the Olympic year 2020 will perform Wagner’ s “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”. The director of “Turandot” is decided to be handled by Alex Oriier, artistic director of the Spanish director group “La · Fura · Ders · Baus” who directed the opening ceremony of Barcelona · Olympics opening ceremony.

Also, in order to broaden the range of activities, it is a topic to create a new pop orchestra “OBCPOPS”. Work on the premiere of works such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Roberto Gerhard and Peter Eötvös.

The conductors and soloists who are going to be guest performances are as follows and have attractive faces. Kent Nagano, Sylvain Cambreling, Hartmut Haenchen, Xian Zhang, Pincus Steinberg. Also, soloists include Piotr Anderszewski, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Joshua Bell, Gautier Capuçon and others.
