The final round of the 10th “Hamamatsu International Piano Competition” was held on the 23rd and 24th, Turkey’s Can Cakmur (20) won first prize. Cakmur also received Mayor of Sapporo Award and Chamber Music Award at the same time. The 2nd prize was Tomoharu Ushida (19) in Japan and also received the Mayor of Warsaw Award. The third prize was Korean Lee Hyuk (18). 4th prize to 6th prize are Japanese. Atsushi Imada (28), keigo Mukawa (25), and Takashi Yasunami (26). Ushida won the audience award. Also, Tomoya Umeda (27) from Japan gained Best Performer of the Japanese Work. Diploma of Outstanding Merit was awarded to Andrei Ilushkin (23) of Russia.
In 1991, the Competition was started in 1991 in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Hamamatsu City. Organized by Hamamatsu City and the Hamamatsu Cultural Foundation, held every three years. The 10th opening began on November 4, 88 people who passed the preliminary examination participated. The prize money is about $ 26000 for the first prize and $ 4000 for the 6th prize. The committee chairperson was Noriko Ogawa. Qualifying is up to the third, the final round is the style playing concerto with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. The competition will be closed on the 25th after the winning performers perform concerts.
